Why We Remove Almond Skins (and Why Most Brands Won’t Talk About It)
Not all “healthy” foods are created equal.
At Bae’s Butters, we exclusively use blanched almonds — meaning the skins are removed before grinding. This is a deliberate choice rooted in digestion, mineral absorption, and bioavailability.
Almond skins contain tannins and phytic acid, compounds that can inhibit nutrient absorption and irritate digestion for many people. Removing them creates a smoother, cleaner nut butter that’s easier on the gut and more efficient for the body to use.
Most brands keep the skins because it’s cheaper and faster.
We remove them because your body deserves better.
This is what intentional processing looks like: doing extra work so your body doesn’t have to.
